What are the RC Spirituality sessions?
RC Spirituality is a monthly meeting that brings to the RC Ontario Locality formation on Regnum Christi’s spirituality. But what does that mean? Well, each Movement, Order, Community of Life in the Church has a particular spirituality, its own way of approaching God in prayer and in living out the Gospel. In these sessions we learn and share how the Spirituality of the Regnum Christi Movement partakes in the whole of the Catholic Church, as well as how it translates to our everyday life.
A RC Spirituality session can be as simple as a life story from one of our members or as complex as our Renewal sessions where we reviewed the RC Statutes. They are usually prepared as a cycle of meetings covering a particular theme in the heart of the RC charism.
2016/17 RC Spirituality on the 5 Dimensions of a RC Member
Welcome to the 2016/17 RC Spirituality sessions. Here you will find Power Point presentations, video links and other resources from our monthly sessions.
This year, the North-American territory is inviting all localities to participate in a cycle of sessions on the 5 Dimensions of a Regnum Christi Member. This is a great opportunity not only for members, but also for friends of the Movement to learn what we are all about!
Overview – October 2016
The 2016/17 RC Spirituality sessions kicked off in October. We introduced a new tool called the Personal Regnum Christi Program and gave an overview of the Five Dimensions of an Regnum Christi Member – Prayer/Spiritual Life, Formation, Apostolate, Personal Accompaniment and Team Life. These 5 dimensions are fundamental to what it means to be a Regnum Christi Member; how we live our life in the Kingdom and how our mission ties into the vocation of a lay Catholic called to the Regnum Christi Movement.

First Dimension: Prayer and Spiritual Life – November 2016/January 2017
The material for the Prayer and Spiritual Life dimension can be found here.
This RC Spirituality session was held on November 12, 2016 in Oakville and January 21, 2017 in Toronto. In this session, we explored the Prayer and Spiritual Life dimension – the foundation or our “ground zero”. If we are to live our Christian life fully, we must have a strong prayer life. It’s that simple. It’s that necessary.
The RC Statutes and our Commitment Card include many prayer and spiritual practices to be done daily, weekly, monthly and annually. All are a means to help us grow in our relationship with Christ. They are not, however, a checklist. Nor are they something to be imposed. But rather, they are something to be proposed to help us grow and be configured into other Christs in this world. They are a means to an end…our union with Christ.
Second Dimension: Formation – January 2017
The material for the Formation dimension can be found here.
This session explored in greater depth the Formation dimension.
The integral Christian is well formed in the four main areas of Christian living – spiritual life, human development, intellect/knowledge of the faith, and apostolic activity.
It’s all about Christ. It’s all about becoming more and more like him. It’s about being his disciple, in order to spread his Kingdom in the world. Ultimately, Christ is the one who will “form” you. He wants to be your teacher, guide, and example. Gently and wisely, from the inside out, he will lead you along the path of trans-formation into him, so that you can reach your full human and Christian potential. If you cooperate responsibly with his efforts, the joy and enthusiasm that comes from being a mature apostle of the Kingdom will become your personal trademark, and your life will “bear fruit that will last.” (John 15:16)

Third Dimension: Apostolate – February 2017
The material for the Apostolate dimension can be found here.
An apostle is someone who is “sent out” into the world to spread the teachings of Christ; a messenger of the Good News. The goal of all apostolic activities is to bring others to Christ and bring Christ to others. It is how we fulfill Christ’s command, “Go and make disciples of all the nations.” (Matt 28:19). We do this by (1) reaching out to others; (2) giving them a deeper experience of Christ; and (3) inviting them to follow Christ more closely.
In this age of relentless activity, it is easy for Christians, particularly those involved in good works, to fall into the pattern of activist. But mere activity and material results are not sufficient for a successful apostolate. In his classic work, The Soul of the Apostolate, Dom Chautard demonstrates that the very foundation of all apostolic work must be the Interior Life. Another recommended book, I Saw His Face: Powerful Moments of Christ’s Mercy, by Fr Michael Mitchell LC, is an inspiring collection of encounters with God’s mercy through service. Recommended reading on apostolate can be found here.
The materials that were the basis for this presentation include two excellent videos on the Program of Life by Fr Thomas Vendetti LC as well as the Conference portion of Fr John Bartunek LC’s Retreat Guide: The Complete Christian – A Retreat Guide on the Calling of the Twelve Apostles.
- Fr Thomas Vendetti gives a two part overview on the Program of Life: this part focuses on the vocation statement
- Fr John Bartunek LC talks practically about the courageous living and giving every Christian is called to by baptism, bringing Christ to the world through our way, our words and our work
Fourth Dimension: Team Life – May 2017
The material for the Team Life dimension can be found here.
Fifth Dimension: Personal Accompaniment – May 2017
The material for the Personal Accompaniment dimension can be found here.
