As many of you know from watching this video https://youtu.be/uq07ctVjTqY an Exploring Team has been formed to look into the possibility of purchasing a permanent residence for our LC Community.
More than a residence, the vision includes a place for the Regnum Christi family to gather on occasion.
For those of you who have been RC Members or friends of RC prior to 2009, you recall the time when the priests did not live nearby and travelled through once a month or so, to visit with families, provide Spiritual Direction and preach retreats. In 2009, the Legionaries of Christ received approval to have a community in Oakville and since then have been leasing a property. This has allowed them to be even more available to us and to the neighboring parishes. Certainly, many of us have benefited from having the priests of Legionaries of Christ, nearby.
Those of us involved in any way, in planning events, retreats, family picnics, youth events, etc., are aware of the challenges we sometimes face in securing a venue for our events. Thankfully, many parishes and other venues have been generous in allowing us to use their facilities, sometimes on donation or reduced fee. Other times, we face the challenge of not having a particular date available, or not meeting the minimum requirement to cover the cost of the venue. A permanent local residence for our priests of the Legionaries of Christ and potentially including space for some RC events will be of great benefit to all of us.
As you know the LC community relies on donations to meet their daily needs, including the lease payments and what they have been able to save towards a down payment for a permanent residence. They will continue to need our help to make this vision a reality. In the coming weeks and months, we will continue to provide you with updates, requests for assistance, fundraising and prayers.
We are preparing to introduce the members of the exploring team to you. You may already know some of us, Oswald Emmanuel, Richard Nunn, Louela Rankin & Tima Borges.
